Louisiana’s Shreveport Opera has announced its 2026-27 season.

Opening the Company’s 78th season is the “Music of the Night” event which introduces the new Resident Artists of Shreveport Opera Express: soprano Sophia Grace Donelan, mezzo-soprano Madelin Morales, tenor David Mejía, and bass-baritone Benjamin Somervell. Returning member and pianist Robert Cruz accompanies.

Performance Date: Sept. 17, 2026

Performance Date: Oct. 21, 2026 

Madelin Morales and Sophia Grace Donelan star in the title roles of Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel.” They are joined by Renée Tatum, Andrew Payne, David Mejía, and Briana Sosenheimer. Alan E. Hicks directs and Kermit Poling conducts. Sets and costume are by Papermoon Productions.

“Spring Opera Night” features the Resident Artists.

Performance Date: March 18, 2027

Gwenyth Sell takes on the title role in Floyd’s “Sussanah.” Jason Zacher, Taylor Comstock, Sophia Grace Donelan, Dennis Jesse, David Mejía, Madelin Morales, Cindy Sadler, Gregory Sliskovich, Benjamin Somervell, and Briana Sosenheimer round out the cast. Alan E. Hicks directs and Joe Illick conducts.

Performance Date: April 3, 2027

Donizetti’s “Viva la Mamma!” features Sophia Grace Donelan, Madelin Morales, David Mejía, and Benjamin Somervell. Alan E. Hicks directs and Robert Cruz is the musical director.
