Shreveport Opera Kicks off 2023-24 Resident Artist Program

By David Salazar

Louisiana’s Shreveport Opera has announced that its resident artists have kicked off their program for 2023-24.

The Shreveport Opera Resident Artist Program provides an opportunity for emerging singers and pianists to perform and/or cover leading, supporting, comprimario and ensemble roles in the three mainstage productions that the company is showcasing. Additionally, the artists receive coachings and workshops, as well as other performance opportunities, including their participation in the SOX Program (Shreveport Opera Xpress).

The SOX program gives these artists to bring opera into the lives of community members around Louisiana, Texas and Arkansas. The program showcases two children’s operas in over 100 different schools and also presents “Operatizers” (a concert of Opera Arias and Musical Theatre Pieces) at senior centers, community centers and private functions.

This year’s artists include soprano Taylor See, mezzo-soprano Mariam Mouawad, tenor Nathan Schafer, baritoen Logan Dell’Acqua, and pianist Ah Young Kim.
