The Florida Grand Opera has announced the cast to “Rigoletto.”

The company announced that Todd Thomas will sing the title role, which will be the fourth appearance with the company. He will be joined by soprano Sharleen Joynt as Gilda in her company debut.

Thomas made his FGO debut in 2014 as Scarpia in “Tosca” and returned later that year to perform the role of Sharpless in “Madama Butterfly.” In 2017, he returned to the company for the Count Anckarström in “Un Ballo in Maschera.”

Meanwhile, Joynt has performed at the Calgary Opera, Opera Philadelphia, Ravinia Music Festival, Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Pacific Opera Victoria, Anchorage Opera, and the Tanglewood Music Festival.

The cast will be rounded out by Darren Drone, Matt Boehler, and Stephanie Doche. Pacien Mazzagatti conducts the production by Kathleen Belcher.

“Rigoletto” will be the second production for the Florida Grand Opera and will be performed from March 12 to April 2, 2021.
