Shana Blake Hill, Alex Boyer, Dane Suarez Headline Walnut Creek’s Festival Opera

Walnut Creek’s Festival Opera has announced its 31st season.

The season will be headlined by a production of “Norma” directed by Mark Foehringer and conducted by Bryan Niles. Shana Blake Hill stars in the title role with Ashley Dixon as Adalgisa. Dane Suarez plays Pollione while Kevin Thompson stars as Oroveso.

Performance Dates: July 8 & 10, 2022

Artist Recital Series

Tenor Alex Boyer and pianist Kevin Korth will present a recital of music by Hans Pfitzner, Rachmaninoff, Schubert, Sibelius, and Tost.

Performance Dates: March 20, 2022

Mezzo-soprano Lily Bogas and countertenor Matheus Coura will take the stage alongside pianist Zachary Gordin for a program featuring music by Monteverdi, Mozart, Bizet, Strauss, Weill, and Gordon.

Performance Dates: May 22, 2022

Additional Programming

Soprano Shana Blake Hill and pianist Zachary Gordin will appear in the Mixtape Digital Stage series in April; the June release will feature tenor Taylor Thompson and Gordin.

There will also be a performance of “Opera in the Park” and “Arts Around August.”
