Seoul Arts Center Closes due to Coronavirus

The Seoul Arts Center has canceled performances due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

The Arts Center announced via social media that due to the outbreak of the Novel Corona 19 infection and South Korea  being on high alert, all performances are canceled until further notice. According to the statement, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea has ordered the suspension of every upcoming performances, events.

The arts center was preparing to present a production of Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” with Jessica Pratt and an opera gala as well as a number of classical music concerts.

The Seoul Arts Center is the latest performing arts institution to close due to the outbreak. Over the weekend, all of Northern Italy’s theaters closed until March 1.

The Coronavirus has infected more than 970 people in South Korea with 11 deaths linked to the virus. According to reports by CNN, the highest concentration are in three locations, including 543 in the southern city of Daegu, 248 in North Gyeongsang Province and 43 in the port city of Busan.
