The Semperoper Dresden has announced a charity concert in support of Ukrainian refugees on May 21, 2022.

The event, which will be held at the Frauenkirche, will take place under the patronage of Minister of State Barbara Klepsch.

“I immediately gave my whole-hearted backing to the idea of the Semperoper and the Saxon Semperoper Foundation to organise this charity concert together with the Frauenkirche Foundation. For me it’s wonderful to use the power of music to spread a message of solidarity, hope and peace throughout the world. I’m delighted to act as patron for such an event,” Klepsch stated in an official press announcement.

The concert will feature Nicole Chirka, Stepanka Pucalkova, Tuuli Takala, Alina Tkachuk, Joseph Dennis and Georg Zeppenfeld. The program will include music by Brahms, J.C. Bach, and such Ukrainian composers as Semen Hulak-Artemovsky, Hryhorij Altschevsky and Myroslav Skoryk.

Admission to the concert will be free of charge and audience members will be asked to make donations in support of programs for refugee children and young people from Ukraine.
