The Semperoper Dresden has announced a cast change for Verdi’s “Nabucco.”

The company announced via social media that Iulia Maria Dan will sing Anna on Nov. 8, 10 and 16, replacing Birgit Fandrey while Sejong Chang will sing Oberpriester des Baal on Nov. 8 & 10, replacing Alexandros Stavrakakis.

Dan was originally scheduled to sing “La Traviata” during that period but was replaced by Katerina Tretyakova. Dan is an ensemble member in Dresden and is scheduled for performances in “La Bohème,” “Così Fan Tutte,” “Le Nozze di Fígaro,” “Platée,” “Les Contes d’Hofmann,” and “Hansel and Gretel.”

Meanwhile, Chang is an ensemble member at the Oper Leipzig where he is scheduled to sing in productions of “Carmen,” “La Fanciulla del West,” “Arabella,” and “La Bohème,” among others.

Both stars join a cast that includes Antonio Yang in the title role and Anna Smirnova. Omer Meir Wellber conducts.
