Semperoper Dresden Announces Cast Changes For ‘Die Zauberflöte’

By Francisco Salazar

The Semperoper Dresden has announced a number of cast changes for tonight’s “Die Zauberflöte.”

In the role of the Queen of the Night, Olga Pudova will step in for Tuuli Takala, who was originally scheduled for the performance.

Meanwhile, Tomislav Muzek will replace Martin Mitterrutzner in the role of Tamino and Sebastian Wartig will step in for Bernhard Hansky as Papageno.

The three stars are set to join Georg Zeppenfeld, who performs Sarastro, Barbara Senator as Pamina, and conductor Felix Krieger.

There are 10 performances of “Die Zauberflöte” left; they will be performed in February, March, April, June, and July with very different casts.

The cast changes mark the latest in a series of cancelations at the Semperoper Dresden. On New Year’s Eve, the company was forced to bring in numerous singers for Verdi’s “La Traviata.”
