The Semperoper Dresden has announced a cast change for its production of “Don Giovanni.”

The company noted that Riccardo Fassi will step in for Peter Mattei as Don Giovanni on Sunday, March 6, 2022.

Fassi is an Italian bass who has performed at the Teatro Sociale di Como, Wiener Staatsoper, Teatro alla Scala, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro Regio di Torino, Arena di Verona,  Teatro de Las Palmas , and Teatro San Carlo di Napoli. He is known for his Bel Canto and Mozart repertoire.

Fassi will join a cast that include Georg Zeppenfeld, Vanessa Goikoetxea, Joel Prieto, Anita Hartig, Markus Marquardt, Lawson Anderson, and Anke Vondung.

Peter Mattei is set to return for the April 15 performance.
