Semperoper Dresden Announces Cast Change for ‘Tosca’

By Francisco Salazar

The Semperoper Dresden has announced a cast change for its performance of “Tosca” on Feb. 12, 2022.

The company noted that Quinn Kelsey will step into the role of Scarpia taking over for Markus Marquardt who, unfortunately, had to cancel at short notice.

Kelsey is currently at the Semperoper rehearsing a new production of “Aida” which is set to open on March 5. He recently opened a new production of “Rigoletto” at the Metropolitan Opera and is set to return to the company for “La Boheme” and for a revival of “Rigoletto.”

The baritone will join a cast that includes Jennifer Rowley as Tosca and Dmytro Popov as Cavaradossi. Pietro Rizzo conducts Puccini’s masterpiece.

“Tosca” returns in March with a new cast that will be led by Angela Gheorghiu.
