Semperoper Dresden Announces Cast Change For ‘Il Viaggio A Reims’

The Semperoper Dresden has announced a cast change for its upcoming production of Rossini’s “Il Viaggio a Reims”

The company announced that Mert Süngü will sing Chevalier Belfiore in the performance “Il Viaggio a Reims” on Oct. 20, 2019 replacing Daniel Umbelino.

Süngü is a Turkish tenor who specializes in Rossini and Mozart and has performed at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Théâtre du Châtelet Paris, Sächsische Staatsoper SemperOper Dresden, Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli, and Teatro Massimo di Palermo. This season he is set to perform at the Semperoper Dresden in J. Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus,” Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” and Meyerbeer’s “Les Huguenots.”

The tenor joins a cast that includes Elena Gorshunova, Maria Kataeva, Tuuli Takala, Iulia Maria Dan, Edgardo Rocha, Georg Zeppenfeld, Maurizio Muraro, Martin-Jan Nijhof, Bernhard Hansky, Tilmann Rönnebeck, Beomjin Kim, Anna Kudriashova-Stepanets, Alexandra Ionis, Tamara Gura, Doğukan Kuran, and Gerald Hupach. Francesco Lanzillotta conducts the performance.
