Semperoper Dresden Announces Cast Change For ‘Der Rosenkavalier’

The Semperoper Dresden has announced a cast change for “Der Rosenkavalier” on Oct. 31, 2019.

The company announced that Elena Gorshunova will sing Sophie in the performance, replacing Nikola Hillebrand.

The soprano joins a cast that includes Anne Schwanewilms, Albert Pesendorfer, Sophie Koch, and Martin Gantner. Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider conducts the production by Uwe Eric Laufenberg.

Gorshunova has performed at the Semperoper Dresden, Théâtre du Châtelet Paris, Opéra de Reims, Grand Theatre de Bordeaux, Opera de Marseille, Opera de Montpellier, Opera de Nice, Théâtre du Capitole Toulouse, Opéra d’Avignon, Grand Théâtre de Tours, Opéra de Vichy, Opéra National de Lorraine à Nancy, and Vlaamse Opera Antwerpen, among others.

Throughout her career, she has performed roles by Verdi, R. Strauss, Mozart, Rossini, Bellini, Puccini, and Handel.

Hillebrand returns to the stage in a production of Bizet’s “Carmen'” in Mannheim.
