Semperoper Dresden Announces A Cast Change For ‘Die Entführung aus dem Serail’

The Semperoper Dresden has announced a cast change for its upcoming production of “Die Entführung aus dem Serail.”

The company announced that Jussi Myllys, member of the  Deutsche Oper am Rhein, will sing Belmonte on the Oct. 4 performance of Mozart’s comic gem, replacing Joseph Dennis.

Myllys is a Finnish tenor who became part of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein ensemble during the 2009-10 season. He was a member of the Oper Frankfurt and has sung numerous Mozart Operas, Verdi works, Wagner and R. Strauss works. He was also part of the world premiere of ” Babylon ” at the Bayerische Staatsoper and “Terra” in Naples.

The tenor joins a cast that includes Jaron Löwenberg, Hulkar Sabirova, Katerina von Bennigsen, Aaron Pegram, and Dimitry Ivashchenko. Kristiina Poska conducts a production by Michiel Dijkema.

Joseph Dennis returns to the production on Oct. 7, 2019.
