Seattle Opera to Stream ‘Flight’ from Museum of Flight

By Francisco Salazar

The Seattle Opera has announced it will stream Jonathan Dove’s “Flight.”

The production, which will stream from April 23 to 25, will star Randall Scotting, Sharleen Joynt, Joshua Kohl, Karen Vuong, Margaret Gawrysiak, Sarah Larsen, Joseph Lattanzi, Aubrey Allicock, Karin Mushegain, and Damien Geter.

Viswa Subbaraman conducts the work in a production by Brian Staufenbiel. Kyle Seago will direct “Flight” for the screen.

“Flight” is inspired by a true story from Mehran Karimi Nasseri’s 18-year forced residency at Paris’s Charles de Gaulle airport. The opera’s vignettes and meditations on love and identity are presented with winning humor, but without easy resolutions.

The Seattle Opera will film the work on location at The Museum of Flight across several exhibits of the T.A. Wilson Great Gallery.
