Seattle Opera Announces Winter Season Youth Programing

Seattle Opera released the details of its youth activities planned for the winter season.

The company’s lineup of youth education programs comes swiftly after its $250,000 Hearst Foundations grant. The grant builds on Seattle Opera’s existing in-school K–12 programs, and allows for for developing programs and strengthening partnerships with Highline Public Schools.

The Pacific Science Center hosts “Laser Opera.” Dramaturg Jonathan Dean provides narrations for the choreographed live lasers show set to recordings of prominent Black opera singers.

Opera Camp explores Fairytales & Folklore, offered in partnership with Seattle Children’s Theatre

Performance Dates: February 20 – 23, 2024

Students of Seattle Opera’s Youth Opera Project present “Rootabaga Country” by composer and librettist Rachel J. Peters.

Performance Dates: March 8 – 17, 2024

Seattle Opera’s School Opera Tour takes its production of Kamala Sankaram and David Johnston’s “Monkey and Francine in the City of Tigers” to over 50 schools across Washington State.
