Sean Panikkar & Michelle DeYoung Headline Houston Symphony’s ‘Oedipus Rex’

The Houston Symphony is set to bring its 2022-23 season to a close with a performance of Stravinsky’sOedipus Rex” on May 19 and 20, 2023.

The showcase, which will be conducted by music director Juraj Valcuha, will feature projections by Adam Larsen, and stars Michelle DeYoung as Judith. She will be joined by Sean Panikkar in the title role, David Pittsinger as Tirésias, Dashon Burton as Créon and the Messenger, and Matthew White as The Shepherd.

The concert will also include Stravinsky’s “Three Pieces for Solo Clarinet.”

The two performances will take place at the Jones Hall for the Performing Arts.  This concert is among the final ones of the organization’s 2022-23 season, which was the first under Valcuha.
