Schubertiade to Stream July Concerts from Cancelled Season

By Logan Martell

The 2020 Schubertiade in Schwarzenburg and Hohenems has announced two new broadcasts of its July concerts.

While nearly all of the festival’s upcoming events for this year were cancelled in May due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the festival was able to stage these July concerts due to the sudden cancellation of ticket sales allowing for an audience small enough to be in compliance with social distancing measures.

Baritone Konstantin Krimmel and Pianist Daniel Heide present a program that includes Schubert’s “An der Fruhling (D 283),” “Der Jungling am Bache (D 638),” “An Emma,” “The Refugee,” and more. Originally recorded on July 17, 2020 at Markus Sittikus Hall in Hohenems.

Broadcast Date: August 3, 2020. 9:00 pm, via ORF Radio Vorarlberg.

Soprano Sumi Hwang and Pianist Ammiel Bushakevitz are joined by baritone Johann Kristinsson and clarinetist Clara Hofer. The program includes Schubert’s “Heidenroslein,” “Erster Verlust,” “Rastlose Liebe,” “Antingone und Oedip,” and more. Originally recorded on July 18, 2020.

Broadcast Date: August 4, 2020. 2:00 pm, via Osterrichischer Rundfunk.
