Savannah VOICE Festival & Savannah Music Festival Presents ‘American Opera Icon’

Savannah VOICE Festival is partnering with Savannah Music Festival to present “American Opera Icon” in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Sherrill Milnes’ Metropolitan Opera debut.

American baritone Milnes will share stories about his launch into international stardom and his life as the most recorded American opera singer of his time. The evening is filled with live performances from Milnes’ colleagues and mentees in addition to special video presentations to see a storied opera career through the eyes of a living legend.

Milnes hosts with local TV personality, Patty Turner as emcee. Featured artists include baritone Javier Arrey, mezzo-soprano Jessica Ann Best, tenor Peter Lake, soprano Amy Shoremount-Obra, and pianist Jonathan Murphy. Maria Zouves directs.

“An American Icon” will take place at District Live at 6 p.m. on April 3, 2025.
