Sarasota Opera to Present ‘The Elixir Of Love’

The Sarasota Opera continues its 61st season with Donizetti’s “The Elixir of Love” as part of its Winter Opera Festival.

The production will be directed by Marco Nisticò, who makes his Sarasota Opera directing debut. Geoffrey Agpalo leads the comic gem in the role of Nemorino with Adelaide Boedecker as Adina. Stefano de Peppo and Alex DeSocio round out the cast as Dulcamara and Belcore.

John F. Spencer IV returns to the Sarasota Opera to conduct.

Agpalo has performed with the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Michigan Opera Theatre, and Opera Maine. He is also a full-time chorus member of the Lyric Opera of Chicago.

Meanwhile, Boedecker has sung with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, the Naples Philharmonic, Santa Fe Opera, Opera Birmingham, Pittsburgh Opera, and Syracuse Opera.

The Sarasota Opera’s Winter Festival is also set to include “La Boheme” and “Roméo et Juliette.”

“The Elixir of Love” opens on Saturday, Feb. 22 at at 61 N. Pineapple Avenue, Sarasota, FL 34236. There will be seven performances that run through March 21, 2020.
