Sarasota Opera is set to open its 2019-20 season with Verdi’s “Rigoletto” starting on Nov. 1, 2019.

The production, which will run for six shows through Nov. 17, will feature baritone Marco Nisiticò in the title role with tenor William Davenport as the villainous Duke of Mantua and Hanna Brammer as Gilda. Young Bok Kim will play Sparafucile. Finally, Annie Chester will take on the role of Maddalena.

The production will be directed by Stephanie Sundine with Victor DeRenzi conducting; per Sarasota Opera, DeRenzi is the only conductor to ever perform every single opera that Verdi ever wrote.

This is the first opera in Sarasota’s 2019-20 season. After Verdi’s famed work, the company will turn to “Brundibár,” followed by famed classics like Puccini’s “La Bohème” and Gounod’s “Romeo and Juliet” before finishing things off with Donizetti’s “The Elixir of Love” and Catalani’s “La Wally.”
