Sarasota Opera Earns Major Grant to Support Infrastructural Changes

By David Salazar

Sarasota Opera has received the GoodUse Grant from the Southface Institute.

The grant, which provides $75,000 in funding and technical assistance, aims to support Sarasota Opera’s Pavilion Project, which was implemented to replace the organization’s failed HVAC system.

“Southface understood the urgency of this project and will be partnering with us to evaluate additional energy efficiency that will help the company, so that we can better provide our programming and serve our community,” said Sarasota Opera’s General Director Richard Russell in an official press statement issued by the company.

The release notes that the targeted upgrades to the building will ensure reduced operating costs for the company, thus allowing it to direct funds toward other programs and pressing facility needs.

Sarasota Opera is entering its 65th season.
