Sarasota Opera Cancels ‘Tosca’ Performance Due to COVID-19

The Sarasota Opera has canceled the Feb. 24 performance of “Tosca” due to COVID-19.

The company announced the news via social media and said, “tonight’s performance of ‘Tosca’ is being rescheduled due to breakthrough COVID exposures in the Chorus. The new performance date is Weds, March 2 at 7:30pm. Tickets for tonight’s performance will be honored on March 2nd.”

The company is in the middle of its Winter Opera Festival, and is presenting four operas including “The Pearl Fishers,” “Attila” and “La Fille du Regiment.”

The March 2 performance of “Tosca” is set to star Ann Toomey in the title role, Ben Gulley as Cavaradossi, and Stephen Gaertner as Scarpia. The opera will also be presented on Feb. 27, March 11, and 19, 2022.
