Sarah Silverman Joins Leonard Bernstein Biopic ‘Maestro’

Sarah Silverman has joined the upcoming film about Leonard Bernstein, “Maestro.”

According to Deadline, Silverman will play Bernstein’s sister in the film.

The actress will join an ensemble cast that is led by Bradley Cooper, who is playing the iconic composer, Carey Mulligan, who will play Bernstein’s wife Felicia, as well as Matt Bomer and Maya Hawke.

Cooper is also producing and directing the movie, which will tell the complex love story of Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein, a story that spans over 30 years – from the time they met in 1946 at a party and continuing through two engagements, a 25-year marriage, and children Jamie Bernstein, Alexander Bernstein and Nina Bernstein Simmons.

The film is also being produced by Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Kristie Macosko Krieger, and Fred Berner and Amy Durning. Per Deadline, Cooper developed the film with Bernstein’s family.

Silverman is well known for her roles in “Wreck-it Ralph,” “School of Rock,” and “The Sarah Silverman Program.” She was recently seen in “Marry Me” with Jennifer Lopez and the Oscar-nominated film “Don’t Look Up.”

Netflix is set to release “Maestro” in 2023.
