By Brian Tannenbaum

Santa Fe Pro Musica is staging two performances of Mozart’s “Requiem,” conducted by Thomas O’Connor, the weekend of April 27th and April 28th 2024.

Polyphony: Voices of New Mexico, featuring soprano Sherezade Panthaki, alto Meg Bragle, tenor Thomas Cooley, and bass-baritone Douglas Williams, will accompany the Pro Musica Orchestra in presenting the Austrian master’s final work. The 75-minute program opens with a rendition of Anna Clyne’s elegy “Within Her Arms,” dedicated to the memory of the composer’s mother.

On the morning of April 18th, Pro Musica Conductor Laureate Thomas O’ Connor will be hosted by RENESAN Institute for Lifelong Learning for a lecture examining “Requiem” at St. John’s Methodist Church. Registration and a tuition of $25 is required for attendees.

The concerts themselves will be performed Saturday April 27th at 7:30 p.m. local time and Sunday April 28th at 3:00 p.m. local time in the Lensic Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available from $22 to $92.

Included with the ticket is a “Meet the Music” session an hour before each performance at the Lensic Performing Arts Center presented by 95.5 Classical KHFM’s Brent Stevens and Conductor Thomas O’Connor.
