Santa Fe Opera’s ‘The Pueblo Opera Program’ Doc Headed to Santa Fe International Film Festival

The Santa Fe Opera’s “The Pueblo Opera Program: And What Could Be Next” has been selected for the 2023 Santa Fe International Film Festival.

The film, which was selected from amongst 3,800 submissions from 101 countries, will be screened at the Center for Contemporary Arts Cinema on Oct. 22, 2023 at 10 a.m. local time. It will be featured in the Documentary, Filmmaker in Attendance, Indigenous, New Mexico, Special Presentation, and Women Directors sections of the festival.

“The Pueblo Opera Program: And What Could Be Next” was directed by Beverly R. Singer and produced by the Pueblo Opera Cultural Council. It tells the story of the 50-year history between Santa Fe Opera and the Pueblo and Tribal Nations of Santa Fe as well as the opera program that inspired the youth of these groups.

The Pueblo Opera Program started in 1973 and has helped over 100,000 children and families from New Mexico’s 23 Sovereign Nations attend the opera.
