Santa Fe Opera Announces Cast Change for ‘Tosca’

The Santa Fe Opera has announced a cast change for “Tosca” on August 7, 2023.

The company said, “We regret to inform you that tenor Freddie De Tommaso will not be able to perform his American debut as Cavaradossi in TOSCA tonight due to illness. We anticipate he will perform the remainder of the run from August 12 through August 26.⁠”

⁠As a result,  “Jonathan Burton will make his Santa Fe Opera debut tonight as Cavaradossi.⁠ Please join us in sending well wishes to Freddie and welcoming Jonathan to the SFO stage.⁠”

Burton has performed at the Knoxville Opera, Dayton Opera, Sarasota Opera, Opera Naples, Kentucky Opera, Florida Grand Opera, and Palm Beach Opera.

He joins a cast that includes Leah Hawkins and Reginald Smith Jr. John Fiore conducts.
