The Santa Fe Opera has announced a cast change for “The Lord of Cries.”
The company announced that Apprentice Singer Kathryn Henry will assume the role of Lucy Harker in John Corigliano and Mark Adamo’s world premiere opera “The Lord of Cries” replacing Susanna Phillips.
Henry is a finalist of the 2015 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, the 2018 Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Singers at Houston Grand Opera, and the 2021 National Opera Association Carolyn Bailey and Dominick Argento Vocal Competition. She has won awards in the Opera Index Vocal Competition and was a semifinalist in the 2020 James Toland Vocal Arts International Singing Competition. She has performed with the Florentine Opera and is set to appear in the Santa Fe Opera’s productions of “Eugene Onegin” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
Henry will join a cast that includes Anthony Roth Costanzo, David Portillo, Jarrett Ott, Matt Boehler, and Kevin Burdette. Johannes Debus conducts the production by James Darrah.
“The Lord of Cries” opens on July 17 and runs through August 17, 2021.
