Sandra Lopez Headlines Florida Grand Opera’s ‘Madama Butterfly’

The Florida Grand Opera is set to start the 2020 year with a revival production of Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly.”

Ramón Tebar leads the production with a cast that includes Sandra Lopez, who received critical acclaim touring with Andrea Bocelli, in the title role and Grammy Award-winner Joshua Guerrero in the role of Pinkerton. They will be joined by Stephany Peña as Suzuki and Grant Youngblood.

The production is set to be directed by E. Loren Meeker in her FGO debut.

The production will open on Jan. 18 with a Butterfly Ball gala which will be a night of celebration at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami, commemorating Florida Grand Opera’s 79th Season. The evening will start at 5:00 p.m. with Cocktails in the Peacock Foundation Studio. After the opera, there will be cocktails and hors d’oeuvre in the Peacock Studio, followed by dinner and dancing.

The production is set to run through Feb. 1 and will be performed in both Miami and Fort Lauderdale.
