San Francisco Opera to Present ‘L’Elisir d’Amore’

The San Francisco Opera is set to present Donizetti’s “L’Elisir d’Amore” for a six-performance run at the War Memorial Opera House.

The opera, which is set to open on Nov. 19, will be directed by Daniel Slater with associate director and choreographer Tim Claydon.

The opera will be updated to the Italian Riviera during the 1950s and will star Samoan tenor Pene Pati as Nemorino, Slovak soprano Slávka Zámečníková as Adina, Serbian baritone David Bizic as Belcore, Italian baritone Renato Girolami as Dulcamara, and soprano Arianna Rodriguez as Giannetta. Spanish conductor Ramón Tebar makes his Company debut leading the San Francisco Opera Orchestra.

“L’Eisir d’Amore” will be performed from Nov. 19 to Dec. 9 and will be streamed on Nov. 26 The opera will also be available to watch on demand for 48 hours beginning on Nov. 27 at 10 a.m. PT.
