San Francisco Opera & San Francisco Chronicle to Present ‘Opera in the Park’

The San Francisco Opera, in collaboration with the San Francisco Chronicle, will present “Opera in the Park” at Robin Williams Meadow in Golden Gate Park on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023.

The free annual event will be led by Music Director Eun Sun Kim, who leads the San Francisco Opera Orchestra and such artists as Julie Adams, Aleksandra Kurzak, Olivia Smith, Hyona Kim, Daniela Mack, Roberto Alagna, Arturo Chacón-Cruz, Moisés Salazar, Jongwon Han, and Brian Mulligan.

The artists will present excerpts from “Tannhäuser,” “Don Giovanni,” “Le Villi,” “L’Italiana in Algeri,’ “Samson et Dalila,” “Tosca,” “Pagliacci,” “La Favorite,” “Carmen,” “Doctor Atomic,” “Cavalleria Rusticana,” and “Rusalka.”

The free concert was first established in 1971 and has become a yearly tradition for operagoers in the Bay Area. The event is free with food and drinks available for sale at the park. Audiences are encouraged to bring their own picnics.
