San Francisco Opera Launches ‘Earn Your Wings’ Campaign To Help Homeless

By David Salazar

The San Francisco Opera is teaming up with the Compass Family Services and Community Housing Partnership for the “Earn Your Wings” campaign.

Both Compass Family Services and Community Housing Partnership help the homeless in San Francisco find stable housing and find economic self-sufficiency.

The campaign is inspired by the company’s upcoming “It’s a Wonderful Life,” and during National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week, Nov. 10-18, the company is inviting audiences to engage in opportunities to help the two organizations’ programs. On Nov. 16, there will be a public panel discussion emphasizing the work’s social impact themes. Moreover, Community Housing Partnership/Compass Family Service community members will get a chance to go behind the scenes of “It’s a Wonderful Life’s” final dress rehearsal.

“San Francisco Opera believes in creating impactful, reciprocal connections with our Bay Area community. With ‘Earn Your Wings’ we hope to promote some of the critical work being done in our immediate neighborhoods of Civic Center and the Tenderloin by forming relationships with Community Housing Partnership and Compass Family Services—two organizations who are making a direct impact in critical areas for our city right now, namely homelessness, affordable housing and social support,” said San Francisco Opera General Director Matthew Shilvock in a press release.
