San Diego Symphony has announced that it will debut its new outdoor home, The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, on August 6, 2021.

The venue will seat up to 10,000 people and will feature over 100 concerts all year-round.

To kick things off, on August 6, 2021, the organization will present a unique concert starring some of classical music’s greatest stars. Headlining the showcase will be Ryan Speedo Green, pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet, and cellist Alisa Weilerstein. There will also be a world premiere of a new work for orchestra and turntable by Mason Bates.

On August 7, the company will present a showcase featuring major Broadway stars including Megan Hilty, Norm Lewis, Kelli O’Hara, and Adrienne Warren.

The festival comes to a close with a showcase on August 8 featuring the Gladys Knight and Naturally 7.
