The San Diego Opera has added “Bel Canto Trio” to its 2019-20 season.

The one-night-only event set for March 4, 2020 at the Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center will feature an evening of song with Joshua Guerrero, Hailey Clark, and Nicholas Brownlee. The concert will honor the original “Bel Canto Trio” which was formed in 1947 by the Columbia Artist Management; that trio of singers included tenor Mario Lanza, soprano Frances Yeend, and baritone George London. The group performed 86 concerts around the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

The new trio, which features Guerrero, Clark, and Brownlee and was also created by Columbia Artist Management, will perform the original program from the 1947-48 tour, which includes music from “Rigoletto,” “Faust,” I Lombardi,” “La Traviata, “Manon Lescaut,” “La Bohème,” and “Il barbiere di Siviglia,” among others.

Joining the singers will be pianist Christopher Allen. Guerrero made his San Diego Opera debut earlier this season with “One Amazing Night” while both Clark and Brownlee will both be appearing with the company for the first time in their careers with this event.
