Samuel Dale Johnson, Hye-Youn Lee & Roland Wood Lead Scottish Opera’s 2023-24 Season

The Scottish Opera has announced its 2023-24 season.

Opera

Samuel Dale Johnson, Simone McIntosh, Anthony Gregory, David Stout, and Dingle Yandell star in Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville.” Stuart Stratford conducts the production by Sir Thomas Allen.

Performance Dates: Oct. 17-Nov. 25, 2023

Jonathan Dive’s “Marx in London” will be conducted by David Parry and directed by Stephen Barlow. The production will be directed by Roland Wood, Orla Boylan, Paula Sides, William Morgan, Lucy Schaufer, Alasdair Elliott, Jamie MacDougall, and Paul Hopwood.

Performance Dates: Feb. 13-24, 2024

Hye-Youn Lee and Ji-Min Park star in Verdi’s “La Traviata.” Stuart Stratford conducts.

Performance Dates: May 8-June 15, 2024

Opera in Concert 

Strauss’ “Daphne” will star Hye-Youn Lee, Shengzhi Ren, Dingle Yandell, and Claire Barnett-Jones. Stuart Stratford conducts.

Performance Dates: Sept. 5-10, 2023

Stuart Stratford conducts The French Collection.

Performance Dates: March 1 & 3, 2024

Henry McPherson’s “Maud” and Kurt Weill’s “Down in the Valley” will be conducted by Chris Gray.

Performance Dates: July 27-30, 2024

The season will include opera on the doorstep and recitals.
