The Staastheater Wiesbaden has announced its 2026-27 season.

Premieres

The season kicks off with Orff’s “Carmina Burana.”

Performance Dates: August 22 & 29, 2026


“Metropolis Wiesbaden” will be based on Fritz Lang’s masterpiece with a film score by Gottfried Huppertz, Sebastian Nübling.

Performance Dates: Sept. 12, 2026-Jan. 10, 2027


Dennis Krauß directs a new production of Offenbach’s “Les Contes d’Hoffmann.”

Performance Dates: Oct. 10, 2026-Jan. 14, 2027


Aileen Schneider directs Puccini’s “La Bohème” in a new production.

Performance Dates: Nov. 28, 2026-April 7, 2027


Andrea Moses directs a new production of Purcell’s “Dido and Aeneas” with baroque specialist Christian Rohrbach conducting.

Performance Dates: Jan, 23-June 24, 2027


Matthias Piro directs Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” with Sam Park in the title role and Leo McFall conducting.

Performance Dates: March 4-April 23, 2027


Clara Brezinka directs “Songs of Nobody” with Tim Hawken conducting.

Premiere Dates: March 12, 2027


Kurt Weill’s “The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny” will be conducted by Paul Taubitz and directed Wolfgang Nägele. The cast will include Tora Augestad, Sascha Zarrabi,Fabian-Jakob Balkhausen, Inna Fedorii, Richard Trey Smagur, Joshua Sanders, Jaeyoung Ha, Jonathan Macker, and Joshua Sanders.

Performance Dates: April 3-June 10, 2027


Young Doo Park, Theo Hoffman, Nicolas Courjal, Mari Eriksmoen, and Fabian-Jakob Balkhausen star Debussy’s “Pelleas et Melisande.” Jetske Mijnssen directs and Leo McFall conducts.

Premiere Date: May 1, 2027


“Symphony for one hundred citizens and a traffic light” will be directed by Thomas Verstraeten.

Premiere Date: May 2027


Lee Hoiby’s “The Italian Lesson” and “Bon Appétit!” will be presented in a double bill. Marvin Mohrhardt directs and Tim Hawken conducts.

Premiere Date: May 6, 2027


Revivals

Mozart’s “Die Zauberflote” will star Joshua Sanders, Katleho Mokhoabane, Nathan Bryon, Sarah Yang, Fabian-Jakob Balkhausen, Young Doo Park, Sophia Theodorides, Celine Mun, and Sam Park. Alejandro Jassán conducts.

Performance Dates: August 23, 2026-June 4, 2027


Summertime: Broadway in concert will feature Fleuranne Brockway, Inna Fedorii, Alyona Rostovskaya, Camille Sherman, Hovhannes Karapetyan, Jaeyoung Ha, Joshua Sanders, and Jack Lee. Leo McFall conducts.

Performance Dates: August 30-Nov. 29, 2026


Signe Heiberg leads Puccini’s “Tosca” with Paul Taubitz conducting.

Verdi’s “La Traviata” will be revived with Galina Benevich, Joshua Sanders, Sam Park, Sarah Yang, and Katleho Mokhoabane. Leo McFall conducts.

Alles Liebe!,” a queer countryside operetta by Misha Cvijović and Philipp Amelungsen, will star Silvia Hauer, Fabian-Jakob Balkhausen, Danai Simantiri, Jonathan Macker, Joshua Sanders, Sharon Kempton, Fleuranne Brockway, Sascha Zarrabi, and Kelly Heelton. Paul Taubitz conducts.

Performance Dates: Oct. 17, 2026-Jan. 24, 2027


Donietti’s “Viva La Mamma” will star Inna Fedorii, Jaeyoung Ha, Hovhannes Karapetyan, Sarah Yang, Silvia Hauer, Joshua Sanders, Petro-Pavlo Tkalenko, Fabian-Jakob Balkhausen, Thando Zwane, and Jonathan Macker. Tamara Lorenzo Gabeiras conducts.

Performance Dates: Jan. 8-Feb, 7, 2027


Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel” will star Sam Park, Galina Benevich, Camille Sherman, Fleuranne Brockway, Inna Fedorii, and Richard Trey Smagur. Holger Reinhardt conducts.

Rossini’s “Il barbiere di Siviglia” will star Joshua Sanders, Hovhannes Karapetyan, Camille Sherman, Josef Jeongmeen Ahn, and Young Doo Park.

Bizet’s “The Pearl Fishers” will star Sam Park, Sarah Yang, Katleho Mokhoabane, and Young Doo Park.

“Ciao amore!” which is “Don Giovanni” meets “Scenes from a Marriage” will close out the season.

Concerts 

Leo McFall conducts Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 and music from “Rusalka” with Inna Fedorii.

Katharina Wincor conducts works by Bruckner, Alma Mahler and Haydn with soloist Fleuranne Brockway.

Performance Date: Feb. 3, 2027


Edward Elgar’s “The Dream of Gerontius” will be conducted by Leo McFall.
