By Francisco Salazar

The Salzburger Landestheater has canceled its Nov. 16, 2021 performance of “Ariadne auf Naxos.”

The company announced that due to Covid-19 cases in the Mozarteum Orchestra the performance will not take place. The company also noted that the Nov. 17 performance of “Blut an meinen Händen” in the Kammerspiele has also been canceled because a member of the Salzburger Landestheater ensemble tested positive for the coronavirus.

The Saturday, Nov. 20 premiere of “Schöne Bescherungen” has also been postponed.

The company however noted that the performances of “Macbeth” over the weekend will take place as planned.

The news comes as Austria is experiencing a new wave of COVID-19 and has started to implement stricter rules on unvaccinated people.
