Salzburg Whitsun Festival Artistic Director Cecilia Bartoli has announced that Nadezhda Karyazina will be performing in the opera pasticcio “Hotel Metamorphosis,” taking over for Varduhi Abrahamyan, who canceled her participation in the summer festival.

Karyazina will take on the roles of Minerva, Nutrice, and Juno in the work.

Karyazina is the winner of the 2025 Herbert-von-Karajan Prize and debuted in the 2025 Salzburg Easter Festival as Marfa in “Khovanshchina.” She has also performed at the Zürich Opera and Teatro Real de Madrid.

“Hotel Metamorphosis” will get performances on June 6 and 8, 2025 and then returns in July for five more performances ending on August 15, 2025. It stars Cecilia Bartoli, Lea Desandre, Philippe Jaroussky, and Angela Winkler. Gianluca Capuano conducts Les Musiciens du Prince. Barrie Kosky directs.
