Salzburg Festival to Broadcast ‘Elektra’ Starring Aušrinė Stundytė, Asmik Grigorian

The Salzburg Festival has announced that it will record its production of Strauss’ “Elektra“ via ORF, 3sat, ZDF/ARTE and UNITEL in collaboration with the Vienna Philharmonic and the Salzburg Festival and will be broadcast as followed.
The company will then stream the production over the course of several days via some a wide range of channels. Here is the full rundown.

The cast for the opera includes Aušrinė Stundytė in the title role, Tanja Ariane Baumgartner in the role of Klytämnestra, Asmik Grigorian as Chrysothemis, Michael Laurenz as Aegisth, and Derek Welton in the role of Orest. The cast is rounded out by Tilmann Rönnebeck, Verity Wingate, Valeriia Savinskaia, Matthäus Schmidlechner, Jens Larsen, Sonja Šarić, Bonita Hyman, Katie Coventry, Deniz Uzun, Sinéad Campbell-Wallace, and Natalia Tanasii.
Franz Welser-Möst conducts the production by Polish theatre and opera director Krzysztof Warlikowski. Sets and costumes were designed by Małgorzata Szczęśniak.
The opening night of “Elektra” is set for August 1, at 5:00 p.m. CET, with additional performances on August 6, 10, 16, 21 & 24.
