The Kühne Foundation will become the main sponsor of the Salzburg Festival until 2021.

The contract was signed on Friday, August 24, 2018, and is set to run through Dec. 31, 2021. It marks the strengthening of the relationship between the two organizations which had already been working together since 2013 when the Kühne Foundation supported the “Young Singers Project.”

“For the Festival it is a great honor and pleasure to extend its circle of main sponsors by a foundation for the first time. I am deeply convinced that this partnership will give new impulses to both parties,” Festival President Helga Rabl-Stadler stated in a press release.

Per the press release, 21 percent of the Festival’s support comes from federal, state, and municipal sources with another five percent coming from the Tourism Board. Sponsors and patrons now contribute 18 percent, which is up from four percent in 1995, when the Festival President took over.
