Salzburg Festival Announces Participants of Young Singers Project 2022

The Salzburg Festival has announced the Young Singers Project 2022.

This year’s edition will feature 15 participants from nine countries. They will appear in several productions throughout the festival schedule in addition to being offered an educational program that includes music lessons, repertory expansion, rehearsals, language coaching, and working with festival artists.

Martina Russomano, Alma Neuhaus, Liam James Karai, and Aleksei Kulagin will appear in smaller roles throughout “Il Trittico” with Ann-Kathrin Niemczyk and Nicole Chikra set to appear in Katya Kabanova; Niemczyk will also appear as Alisa in “Lucia di Lammermoor.” Seungwoo Simon Yang will also be featured as Normanno in “Lucia.”

Flore Van Meerssche will be the priestess in “Aida” with Jasmin Delfs getting a shot to be the Queen of the Night on August 10 in “Die Zauberflöte.”

Sofia Vinnik, Serafina Starke, Niklas Mayer, Pete Thanapat, and Alexandre Fritze will headline performances of “Der Teufel mit den drei goldenen Haaren,” while Serafina Starke, Ann Kathrin Niemczyk, Flore Van Meerssche, Jasmin Delfis, Alma Neuhas, and Sofia Vinnk will appear in a concert with the Vienna Philharmonic under Daniel Barenboim on August 20, 2022. They will also be featured in a concert on August 27, 2022.

“This year we look forward to welcoming 15 participants from nine nations who will appear in seven productions. The Young Singers Project ideally illustrates the Salzburg Festival’s endeavors to engage with the next generation and support selected young talents to the best of our abilities,” said Festival President Dr. Kristina Hammer in an official press release issued by the Salzburg Festival.
