Salzburg Festival Announces New Intendant

The Salzburg Festival has announced that Peter De Caluwe will be its next Intendant.

The new head of the renowned opera, concert and theatre festival is due to be officially presented on Friday.

De Caluwe was director of the La Monnaie in Brussels from 2007 to 2025 and is currently managing director of the European Capital of Culture 2030 in Leuven, Belgium.

The news comes after the Salzburg Festival was forced to look for a new leader after its artistic director Markus Hinterhäuser stepped down in March.
