Salzburg Festival 2020 Will Officially Take Place This August

The Salzburg Festival will move ahead with its 2020 edition.

The festival’s Supervisory Board announced on Monday, May 25, 2020 that it plans to present the event between August 1-30, 2020 in a revised program.

The 2020 edition will not feature the centenary celebration program previously anticipated, with the company set to postpone that slate until 2021. However, there is still a plan to show over 90 performances over 30 days in 16 venues.

The modified program which will be announced in coming weeks.

“It pains me to be forced to cancel so many artists’ appearances for this year, as we had developed special programme constellations with many of them. Still, I am glad to have the opportunity to send a vibrant and powerful signal for the arts with this new Festival programme,” Artistic Director Markus Hinterhäuser said in a press release.
