Saioa Hernández, Renée Fleming, Lisette Oropesa & Thomas Hampson Lead Ópera de Paris’ 2022-23 Season

Ópera de París has announced its 2022-23 season featuring numerous new productions and international stars.

Gustavo Dudamel and Paolo Bortolameolli lead a revival of Puccini’s “Tosca” with Saioa Hernández, Elena Stikhina, Joseph Calleja, Brian Jagde, Bryn Terfel, Gerald Finley, and Roman Burdenko.

Performance Dates: Sept. 3-Nov. 26, 2022

Dmitry Korchak, Vito Priante, Carlo Lepore, Gaëlle Arquez, and Luca Pisaroni star in Rossini’s “La Cenerentola” with Diego Matheuz conducting.

Performance Dates: Sept. 10-Oct. 9, 2022

Antonello Manacorda and Simone Di Felice lead Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” with Mauro Peter, Pavel Petrov, Huw Montague Rendall, Iurii Samoilov, René Pape, Brindley Sherratt, Pretty Yende, Christiane Karg, and Caroline Wettergreen.

Speranza Scappucci conducts Bellini’s “I Capuleti e I Montecchi” with Jean Teitgen, Julie Fuchs, Marianne Crebassa, Francesco Demuro, and Krzysztof Bączyk.

Lydia Steier directs a new production of R. Strauss’ “Salome” with Simone Young conducting. The production will star Elza van den Heever, Zoran Todorovich, Karita Mattila, Iain Paterson, and Tansel Akzeybek.

Michael Spyres, Joseph Calleja, Lucas Meachem, Étienne Dupuis, Gaëlle Arquez, Clémentine Margaine, Golda Schultz, Adriana Gonzalez, and Nicole Car star in Bizet’s “Carmen.” Fabien Gabel conducts.

Louis Langrée conducts Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” with Gerald Finley, Miah Persson, Luca Pisaroni, Jeanine de Bique, Rachel Frenkel, and Sophie Koch starring.

Ludovic Tézier, Lisette Oropesa, and Brenda Rae star in Thomas’ “Hamlet” with Jean Teitgen, Julien Behr, Frédéric Caton, and Eve-Maud Hubeaux. Thomas Hengelbrock conducts Krzysztof Warlikowski’s new production.

Performance Dates: March 8-April 9, 2023

Xiaomeng Zhang, Thomas Hampson, Joshua Bloom, Yajie Zhang, John Matthew Myers, Renée Fleming, and Kathleen Kim star in “Nixon in China.” Gustavo Dudamel conducts Valentina Carrasco’s new production.

Performance Dates: March 22-April 16, 2023

Händel’s “Ariodante” will star Luca Pisaroni, Olga Kulchynska, Emily D’Angelo, Eric Ferring, Christophe Dumaux, Tamara Banjesevic, and Enrico Casari. The production will be directed by Robert Carsen and be conducted by Harry Bicket.

Ailyn Pérez stars in Puccini’s “La Bohème” with Slávka Zámečníková, Joshua Guerrero, Andrzej Filończyk, Simone Del Savio, Gianluca Buratto, and Franck Leguérinel. Michele Mariotti conducts.

Performance Dates: May 20-June 4, 2023

Elsa Dreisig, Pretty Yende, Léa Desandre, Marina Viotti, Benjamin Bernheim, Francesco Demuro, Maciej Kwaśnikowski, Huw Montague Rendall, and Florian Sempey star in Gounod’s “Roméo et Juliette” in a new production by Thomas Jolly. Carlo Rizzi conducts.

Concerts 

Nil Venditti will stage a concert of arias and ensembles with artists of the Opéra Académie.

Performance Dates: Dec. 14, 2022

Gustavo Dudamel will conduct a performance featuring Messiaen’s “Un sourire” and Strauss’ “Rosenkavaliersuite.” The program will also include Haydn’s Symphony No. 82.

Josep Pons will conduct “Bluebeard’s Castle” with Sir Bryn Terfel and Iréne Theorin.
