Saioa Hernández Receives Spain’s Gold Medal
By Francisco SalazarSoprano Saioa Hernández has received the Gold Medal for her work in “las Bellas Artes.”
The soprano received the medal from the Government of Spain alongside 30 artists including composer Teresa Catalán, actor Javier Bardem, Paloma San Basilio, Amaral, Ana Locking, Ian Gibson, and Antón Reixa, among others.
Hernández is currently the most renowned soprano in Spain since her debut at the Teatro alla Scala in 2018. Recently she has made debuts at the Royal Opera House, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Teatro Real de Madrid, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Melbourne Recital Center, Semperoper Dresden, Arena di Verona, and Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
She is currently at the Wiener Staatsoper in a production of “Tosca” and recently made her Teatro dell’Opera di Roma debut. This season she is set to return to the Deustche Oper Berlin, Teatro Real, and will make her debut in Orange in “La Gioconda.”
