By Francisco Salazar

The Staatskapelle Dresden is set to present its Silver Concert on New Year’s Eve.

The evening, which was canceled for live audiences, will be performed for livestreamed audiences on ZDF on Dec. 31, 2021.

Christian Thielemann will conduct soloists soprano Hanna-Elisabeth Müller, tenor Saimir Pirgu, and pianist Igor Levit in a program of music by Huppertz, Erwin, Heymann, Profes, Gershwin, Casucci, Strauß, Lehár, Marek Weber, Paul Abraham, Enrique Santeugini, and Ralph Benatzky.

The New Year’s Eve concert will showcase songs, hits, and operetta classics from Berlin to Broadway.

Due to the current cessation of public performance in Saxony, the concert will be recorded in advance in the Semperoper Dresden without an audience. Tickets already purchased for the New Year’s Eve concerts will be reimbursed by the visitor service.
