Saimir Pigur & Marina Costa-Jackson Headline LA Opera’s ‘La Bohème’

The LA Opera is set to open its 2019-20 season with Puccini’s “La Bohème.”

The new production by Barrie Kosky will open on Sept. 14 with the Marina Costa-Jackson in the lead role, Saimir Pirgu as Rodolfo, Erica Petrocelli as Musetta, and Kihun Yoon as Marcello.

James Conlon will conduct the production which also star Nicholas Brownlee, Michael J. Hawk, Patrick Blackwell, and Robert Stahley.

The production will mark the return of Pirgu to the LA Opera where made his debut in 2008 as Rinuccio, for the premiere of Woody Allen’s staging of “Gianni Schicchi.” He has since performed in productions of “Così fan tutte” in 2011 and Edgardo in “Lucia di Lammermoor” in 2014.

Costa-Jackson is a dramatic soprano who has performed with Michigan Opera Theatre, Teatro Municipal de Santiago, Dallas Opera, Opera Köln and Welsh National Opera.

“La Bohème” is set to run from Sept. 14-Oct. 6, 2019
