Ruth Iniesta & Omar Montanari Headline Livestream of ‘Die Lustige Witwe’ From Teatro Verdi

The Teatro Verdi di Padova has announced that it will livestream Franz Léhar’s “Die Lustige Witwe.”
The showcase will star Omar Montanari in the role of Baron Mirko Zeta, Ruth Iniesta as Valencienne, Alessandro Safina as Count Danilo Danilovitsch, and Anastasia Bartoli as Hanna Glawari. The cast also includes Matteo Roma, William Corrò, Marcello Nardis, Gabriele Nani, Silvia Celadin, Andrea Zaupa, Giovanna Donadini, Antonio Feltracco, Alice Marini, Max Renè Cosotti, Daniela Mazzucato, and Linda Zaganiga.
Alvise Casellati will conduct the production by Paolo Giani Cei. The performance will also feature the Coro Lirico Veneto.
Iniesta recently performed the role of Madama Cortese in Rossini’s “Il Viaggio a Reims” at Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofía, the title role in Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” at the Teatro Filarmonico, and the role of Gilda in Verdi’s “Rigoletto” at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. The soprano is scheduled to appear in the role of Nedda in Leoncavallo’s “Pagliacci” at Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofía in May and June 2021.
Montanari recently interpreted the title role in Mozart’s “Le nozze di Figaro” at the NCPA in Beijing, and the role of Bartolo in Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” at the Teatro la Fenice. The baritone was also featured in “Le nozze in villa” at the Donizetti Festival.
The broadcast will be available for viewing on backstage.teatrostabileveneto.it, as well as the Teatro Stabile del Veneto’s YouTube channel on Feb. 21 at 5 p.m. CET.
