Russians Destroy Ukrainian Baritone Vasyl Slipak’s Memorial
By Francisco SalazarThe memorial of Ukrainian opera singer Vasyl Slipak has been destroyed by Russians.
The destruction of Slipak’s memorial was caught on video and went viral on social media. The video shows Russians taking the memorial apart and throwing portions of it away.
Slipak died at the age of 41 in 2016 when he volunteered in the Ukrainian army and was killed during the war in Donbass by a Russian sniper near the village of Luhanske, in Bakhmut region. He was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine for his work as a volunteer soldier.Vasyl Yaroslavovych Slipak
Throughout his career, he performed at the Paris Opera and performed the works of Verdi, Mozart, Puccini, Mussorgsky, Bizet, and Bellini, among others.
