
Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama Announces 2026 Slate
By David SalazarThe Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama has announced its 2026 season. Here is a rundown of vocal performances on offer.
First up is “Orpheus and the Underworld,” directed by Mathew Eberhardt and conducted by David Jones. The cast includes Rhys Archer, Jamie Farrow, John Rhys Liddington, Tara Camm, Eleanor Woods, Louisa Ridge, Emma Evans, and Ronnie Enoch, among others.
Performance Date: March 20-24, 2026
Soprano Julieth Lozano Rolong will perform alongside Sinfonia Cymru.
Performance Date: May 2, 2026
The season includes a student-composed one-act opera, “The Mirror,” as part of RWCMD’s Atmospheres festival of new music. Described as a horror piece, it is one of several short works premiering across the festival weekend.

The Dunraven Welsh Young Singer of the Year Competition kicks off June.
Performance Date: June 6 & 7, 2026
Also on the slate is a concert with the Welsh National Orchestra and RWCMD Symphony Orchestra featuring works by Strauss and Rachmaninoff, as part of the college’s ongoing partnership with Welsh National Opera.

Then comes Händel’s “Alcina” in Cardiff, as part of the college’s 2026 summer season. No casting or production team details have been announced.
