Royal Philharmonic Announces New Appointments

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra has announced the appointment of Tom Philpott as Director of Artistic Planning and Partnerships and Frances Axford Evans as Concerts Director.The organization noted that Philpott will take up the newly created position of Director of Artistic Planning and Partnerships. He is currently Acting Co-Director of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, where he has established an impressive track record of artistic excellence and creating innovative productions and partnerships. Philpott will join the RPO in March 2024.

Meanwhile, Evans will be promoted to the position of Concerts Director. Evans held the role of the RPO’s Concerts Manager since 2016 and has built a comprehensive knowledge of the Orchestra’s operations and diverse programme of activity.

In a statement, Music Director Vasily Petrenko said, “As the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra continues to attract new and diverse audiences to its concerts in London, the UK, and internationally, we are excited to be strengthening our artistic leadership with two new appointments. I look forward to welcoming Tom and to working with Frances in her new role as Concerts Director. Together we will ensure a bright artistic future for the RPO.”
